  General Notes:

Jane Reid was recorded living at 56 Chapel Street Airdrie by the 1871 census. Her age was noted as 23 years.

The 1881 census recorded Jane Reid McConvill living with her husband and family at 19 Wellwynd in Airdrie. Jane had been born in Airdrie and, like her husband, was recorded as aged 40 years. Jane had three children listed. 3


Jane married Francis McCONVILLE, son of Edward McCONVILLE and Catherine QUIN, on 3 June 1871 in St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Francis McCONVILLE was born about 1831 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 2 and died 15 June 1895 at 0.45 pm in 8 Craig Street, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 4.). The cause of his death was abdominal tumour over 6 months and apoplexy.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. James McIntosh was the celebrant. The witnesses were Patrick McConville, who made his X mark, and Margaret Rice who made her X mark.

Francis McConville, of Broomknoll Street, Airdrie, was an unmarried man of 28 years. He worked as a coal miner. In signing he made his X mark. Both of his parents were deceased.

Jane Reid of 56 Chapel Street Airdrie was a steamloom weaver and unmarried. Her age was 28 years. Her father was deceased. Jane made her X mark.

The marriage was registered on 6 June 1871 at Airdrie, Wm. Whyte being the signing registrar.


Note: The two witnesses mentioned may be Patrick McConville and Margaret BRYCE, recently married in Airdrie. The surname of the female witness may have been wrongly heard, and since both the bride and groom and the pair of witnesses made their X marks, the mistake would not necessarily picked up. 1
