QUIGLAY, James 2
Cause of his death was typhoid fever of 11 days' duration. Other names for James were QUIGLEY, James 5 and QUIGLY, James.6 General Notes: In the 1841 census is an entry which may be this person. A James Quigley was recorded working as an agricultural labourer at Balgray in the Barony parish of Glasgow. He was aged in the 20-24 years age group and had been born in Ireland. Another Irish born man of a similar age group called Thomas Quigley was also working there as an agricultural labourer, possibly a brother or a cousin of James. Research Notes: 'Fardilill' Colliery was probably a colliery at or near Fardalehill in East Ayrshire, beside Busbiehead. Medical Notes: Dr D. McLeod certified the cause of death. Noted events in his life were: 1. sponsor at baptism, 28 April 1850, St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. 9 2. sponsor at baptism, 29 January 1854, St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. 10 James married Agnes DONAGHAY on 12 December 1851 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Agnes DONAGHAY was born about 1828 in County Derry, Ireland and died between 1891 and 1914.) Marriage Notes: The couple married at St Joseph's RC Church, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire by Fr Thomas Wallace on 12 December 1851 and were inscribed in his records as James Quigly and Agnes Donley. |
