General Notes:

In 1881 Thomas was aged 17 years, according to the 1881 census. He was unmarried and worked as a shoemaker. He lived at his parents' home in Weaver Vennel, Maybole, the parish where he had been born.

Thomas' death certificate in 1932 describes him as having been a journeyman shoemaker and widower of Mary McGarry. His age was given as 68 years.

Thomas McKay was deceased when his son John died in 1940. In John's death certificate Thomas was described as having been a shoemaker.

Wm. P. Sandilands MB CM certified the cause of Thomas' death.

John McKay, Thomas' son who had been present, gave notice of his father's death before D. watson, assistant registrar at Maybole on October 18 1932.

Thomas married Mary McGARRY. (Mary McGARRY was born about 1865 and died before 17 October 1932.)
