QUIGLEY, Thomas ¹

  General Notes:

Thomas and his family were recorded by the 1851 census living in Old Monkland parish, Lanarkshire. Thomas and his wife were 32 years old. John was 10 years old, Samuel was 8 years old, Margaret 6 years old, Sarah 4 years old, Thomas 2 years old, and Mary Jane 1 year old.

The 1871 census for Addies Square no 1 in the parish of Bothwell recorded Thomas and Mary Quigley, their four sons and two daughters living in a dwelling with two windowed rooms. The children were all unmarried and had all been born in Lanarkshire; Thomas and Mary were born in County Armagh, Ireland. Thomas was a coal miner aged 53 years.

In 1881 the census for 8 Addies Square in Bothwell parish Lanarkshire recorded Thomas and Mary Quigley living with a son, Joseph, and Thomas's mother, Sarah, a widow. Thomas Quigley's age was recorded as 62 years and his birth place as Ireland. By occupation he was a coal miner. ²

Thomas married Mary RALSTON, daughter of William RALSTON and Sarah GILBRAITH.¹ (Mary RALSTON was born about 1818 in County Armagh, Ireland and died before 11 October 1888.)
