"The marriage contract of this lady's (Elizabeth Grant's, wife of Hugh Rose of Kilravock) parents is in the Lethen charter-room : -

'At Ballachastle . . . and . . . the 20 and . . . days of December 1671 . . . contractit . . . betwixt . . . Ludovick Grant of Freuquhye . . . and Alexander Brodie younger of Lethin . . . and Janet Brodie his lawful docbter.'
Alexander Brodie as principal, and David Brodie of Pitgownie bis brother-german as cautioner, bind
themselves for £20,000 Scots in name of dot and tocher. Grant ratifies the contract, ' being now
fullie major,' at Lethin, 7th January 1673. Witnesses, ' Alexander Brodie of that ilk, Duncan Grant
of Mullochard
, Gawin Stewart, ' my factor,' and Mr. Robert Donaldsone, Sheriff-Clerk of Nairne,
writer thereof.' "

On 20 July 1704, in the parish of Duthil, Duncan Grant of Mullochard held a Court within the jurisdiction of the Regality of Grant as a baillie constituted by the baillie -principal, the Right Honourable Alexander Grant of that Ilk.
