Peter married Catherine SHARP, daughter of William SHARP Factor to Earl of Findlater, Sheriff-Clerk of Banffshire and Isabella LESLIE, about 1667.1 (Catherine SHARP was born about 1635 and died before 24 February 1696 1.)

"Patrick Russell of Moncoffer was born in 1630. He was the son of Alexander Russel. He married, firstly, Catherine Sharpe, daughter of William Sharpe and Isobel Leslie, circa 1667. He married, secondly, Catherine Campbell, daughter of Sir Colin Campbell, 2nd Bt. and Helen Abercrombie, on 24 February 1696. He died in November 1713.

He was also known as Patrick Russell of Banff. He was also known as Alexander Russell.

He lived at Moncoffer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland."

Peter next married Catherine CAMPBELL, daughter of Sir Colin CAMPBELL 2nd Baronet of Lundy and Helen ABERCROMBY.2 (Catherine CAMPBELL was born about 1680 and died in 1756 4.)

"Catherine Campbell .... married Patrick or Peter Russell, who acquired part of Montcoffer in 1680 : he had also some salmon fishings in the Deveron : he died in 1713, and was succeeded by his son Alexander. A prodigious scarcity of money; Mr Russell willing that Lady Montcoffer should get Braco's rent; aliment of the children if there is money left over after paying the two jointures; thinks that Lady Craig and the tutor will come into terms once they 'see us in earnest'; teind duties claimed by Principal Drew.

8. 1733 January 29. Careston Letter from George Skene of that ilk to Archibald Stuart, WS Legal affairs. Endorsed on copy contract, 13 June 1719, between Katherine Campbell, relict of Peter Russell of Montcoffer, with consent of Francis Gordon of Craig, her husband, and Alexander Russell of Montcoffer (her son)."
