GRANT, George in Inverernan & Aldoch, then of Cardells 1

  • Born: About 1541
  • Died: Before 1612

  General Notes:

Authorities differ as to whether or not he is identical with the George Grant, eldest son of John Grant's earlier relationship with Isabella Grant. It may be the first son named George died at an early , and this one was named for him. Or, the first George's birth may have been irregular from the Church's viewpoint and he was considered illegitimate, and the only legitimate George is this one.

"George Grant in Inverernan, afterwards in Aldoch, as brother's son and heir of Alexander Grant of Cardells was infeft in Cardells on 20th December 1585, and immediately thereafter disponed them to his brother John for 1000 merks.
He appears to have died before 1612."
