"Alexander Grant, educated at Univ. of St Andrews; M.A. (29th July 1611); adm. probably before 1624. At a meeting of Synod in April 1624 he was 'ordained to proceid in building of his kirk'; [In the ruined kirk at Kilmore there is a stone inscribed with the words Domus Dei, G. s initials, and date 1630.] In Oct. 1626 he was asked to explain his absence from meetings of the Synod, and answered that he lived 'in the farrest part of the diocie and could have no certaintie'; of the date of the first meeting, and 'as for the second, he could not keep it as it was the appointed day of his marriage'. [Mackay's Urquhart and Glenmoriston, 349.]"
