"Euphemia, prioress of the monastery of Elcho, granted a feu-charter to Norman Leslie, and his heirs-male, of the lands of Kinnaird in Fife, with the manor-place, proceeding on the resignation of Andrew Leslie, son of the deceased Robert Leslie, to be holden by the said Norman Leslie and his heirs-male ; whom failing, by his eldest heir-female without division ; paying therefor an annual rent of 500 merks 9th January 1540." Norman married Isabel LINDSAY, daughter of Sir John LINDSAY 5th Lord Lindsay of the Byres and Helen STEWART, 22 February 1540(charter).1 (Isabel LINDSAY was born about 1525.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Norman Leslie, Master of Rothes, was the eldest son of George, fourth Earl of Rothes, by Margaret Crichton, daughter of William, third Lord Crichton of Frendraught. He married Isabel, daughter of John, fifth Lord Lindsay of Byres, but had no issue by her. They got a charter of the lands and barony of Ballinbreich and others to Norman Leslie, Master of Rothes, and to Isabel Lindsay in her virginity, for completing their marriage, and Lady Isabel Lindsay, future spouse of Norman Leslie, son of George, Earl of Rothes, was infefted in the said lands and barony 22d February 1540."
