General Notes: "Norman Leslie, Master of Rothes, forfeited for killing Cardinal Beaton in 1546, and himself killed at the battle of Renton (Renty), in Picardy, 1554" Norman married Isabel LINDSAY, daughter of Sir John LINDSAY 5th Lord Lindsay of the Byres and Helen STEWART, 22 February 1540(charter).1 (Isabel LINDSAY was born about 1525.) Marriage Notes: "Norman Leslie, Master of Rothes, was the eldest son of George, fourth Earl of Rothes, by Margaret Crichton, daughter of William, third Lord Crichton of Frendraught. He married Isabel, daughter of John, fifth Lord Lindsay of Byres, but had no issue by her. They got a charter of the lands and barony of Ballinbreich and others to Norman Leslie, Master of Rothes, and to Isabel Lindsay in her virginity, for completing their marriage, and Lady Isabel Lindsay, future spouse of Norman Leslie, son of George, Earl of Rothes, was infefted in the said lands and barony 22d February 1540." |
