"Hugh (Fraser), sometimes called Simon, Master of Lovat, who was killed along with his father at 'Blar-nan-leine,' (Battle of the Shirts) on the 15th of July, 1544, when only nineteen years of age, unmarried. He was a youth of singular promise, and in accordance with the practice of the times in the case of most young men of his rank, he was, as already seen, educated in France."
