In The Book of Mackay Golval appears also to be the place referred to as Goval, or Galdwall. 1


Iye married Margaret GORDON, daughter of John GORDON of Sidera and Jannet SYMER.1 (Margaret GORDON was baptised on 30 May 1613 in Prestonpans parish, East Lothian, Scotland 2.)

"Mackay of Golval, son of William 1st of Bighouse, had sasine of Golval and Strath, 6th March, 1633, m. Margaret, dau. of John Gordon of Sidera, and had issue : - William, of whom follows; Angus, m. Mary, dau. of Walter Innes, Skail, Reay, 20th August, 1670; Christina, m. Donald, son of Neil Williamson Aberach; and Isabella, m. Donald Forbes, Auchentoft."
