"Thomas (Grant), called of Balmacaan, who was born in 1637, and was for some time Chamberlain of Urquhart to his nephew Ludovick. He is said to have married, in 1682, Mary, daughter of Colin Campbell of Clunes, by whom he had two sons, Ludovick of Achnastank and Patrick of Culvullin, and a daughter, who married Mungo Grant of Mullochard. In 1683 he is stated to have been forty-six years of age." (page 239)

Note:

As will be seen below in the extract from
The Book of the Thanes of Cawdor, there was more than one Colin Campbell inter-generationally in the Campbells of Cawdor, and this may have led to confusion. The designation 'of Clunes' also was held by more than one member of the family.

"1653-6: Various records mention that the Laird of Calder had an additional brother James, and a sister Mary (this was now Hugh as Laird, his brother Alexander being deceased, and likewise by this time both John Campbells, Thane and heir.). (Colin and Elizabeth (Brodie) Campbell had, according to the records thus far, five children: Hugh, Alexander, James, Jean (who married Lord Hay) and Mary." 3
