GRANT, Alexander in Mulben 1
User ID: P975 General Notes: "He (Alexander Grant) carried on a litigation with his eldest brother with regard to the distribution of their father's effects. He had been placed by his brother, the Laird, in the Mains of Mulben, and other lands. On the 8th January, 1662, at Forres, he became bound to remove before the 24th of that month. A Notarial Instrument, 25th January, 1662, narrates the fulfilment of the agreement. Alexander, however, immediately reinstated himself by taking forcible possession of the lands, and preventing the Laird's chamberlain sowing them. Alexander married Isabel NAIRN of Morenge. (Isabel NAIRN of Morenge was born about 1620.) Marriage Notes: "Alexander (Grant), who carried on a litigation with his eldest brother about the distribution of their father's effects. He is said to have married Isabel, daughter of Nairn of Morenge, by whom he left issue two daughters. He was alive in 1665." |
