"Erkine, Thomas, of Pittodrie
Eldest son of William Erskine, 6th of Pittodrie and his wife Mary, daughter of Patrick Grant of Ballindalloch. Married twice, in 1705 to Margaret, daughter of Sir Alexander Burnett of Craigmyle, by whom he had a son William, who, being weak in mind, was excluded from succession in Pittodrie, and secondly on 30 November 1746 the Hon Anne Forbes, daughter of James 16th Lord Forbes. By her he had an only daughter, Mary, his successor. Died on 14 October 1761 'at a very advanced age'. Anne Forbes died at Pittodrie in November 1750, aged only twenty-seven."
