"Gilbert Turin of Foveran. He is mentioned in a charter given by his father, and confirmed by King James IV., in 1505, in it as Gilbert Turin, son and apparent heir of William Turin of Foveran. The charter is to the said Gilbert and Helen Cheyne, his spouse, and the longest liver of three-fourth part of the lands of Tibbertaw, in the barony of Foveran. On February 7, 1527-8, 'there is a remission to Gilbert Turin of Foverne and eleven others, James Crichton of Frendraught and twenty others, Patrick Cheyne of Esslemont and fifteen others, George Gordon of Gight and five others, from abiding from the armies of Solway and Werk.' He married, first, the said Helen Cheyne , secondly, Catharine Arbulhnott, widow of Auchinleck of that ilk. He was succeeded by his son, IX. William Turin of Foveran."

from Thanage of Fermartyn

Note:

There is a lack of certainty in both the secondary, and in the even fewer primary sources, about who was the mother of Gilbert's son and heir, William Turing. Some secondary sources mention either only Helen, or only Catherine, as wife of Gilbert, and ignore the other.
