James married First WIFE?.1 (First WIFE? was born about 1711.)

  Marriage Notes:

Memorials of the Family of Gordon of Craig and Notes on the Cabrach identifies Anne Reid, daughter of Patrick Reid of Haughton, as this James Gordon's second wife.

James Gordon's life was apparently very short so it may be this description of Anne Reid as second wife is erroneous.

John M. Bulloch in House of Gordon says little about this James Gordon and any wife he might have had, but does mention a daughter:

"James ' of Tillyfour, in the parish of Tough' (Balbithan MS.). He was killed in ' the late unnatural rebellion '. He married Anne, daughter of James Sandilands, III. of Craibstone, and had : -

James, III. of Auchlyne.

A Daughter (Morgan's Woodside, p. 161)."

So the exact number of marriages into which James Gordon entered, and who was the the mother of the daughter listed is unclear.
1 4

James next married Anne REID 'of Haughton' in 1728.1 (Anne REID 'of Haughton' was born about 1710.)

  Marriage Notes:

"We find that according to the Balbithan MS. this laird married the Lady Auchlyne, with whom he begat three sons and a daughter ....

The Lady Auchlyne was Anne Reid, who was previously the second wife of James Gordon of Auchlyne or of Auchlyne and New. bigging, a cadet of the Terpersey family : she had married this James Gordon in 1728, but he died in 1729 : soon afterwards she married John Gordon of Craig. (Knockespock Pedigree.)"
