"William (Donaldson)'s son and successor, Alexander Donaldson of Kinnairdy. married Jean, daughter of Arthur Gordon of Carnousie, who had served with Lord Pitsligo in the '45. He was still living 3 December 1784, when he wrote from Kinnairdy, to Willliam Rose, regarding payment of a bond due to the Laird of Mountblairy, and a proposed meeting with Lord Fife before the Earl's departure for London."
