The name of the mother of John Tragheim on his marriage certificate of 1857 is provided here as an alternative, although it is difficult to decipher from the handwriting what the letters of her name actually are meant to be. There may have been two mothers, in a big family: a birth mother and the mother who brought up the children in the event of their birth mother dying. It is unclear what the situation was, except that a family surnamed "Tragheim", probably Jewish in some degree, left the Russian Empire, probably Kurland or Courland in Latvia, and arrived as emigrants in England/Scotland in the first half of the nineteenth century. ^{1 2}

Toube married Mendel TRAGHEIM. (Mendel TRAGHEIM was born about 1810 and died after 7 April 1857 ².)
