   Another name for Mendel was TRAGHEIM, Menere.²

"Menere Tragheim", as designated, was a clothier, according to the marriage certificate of his son John Tragheim in 1857. ²

NAME

The only source so far for this man is the name on his son's marriage certificate. Neither his nor his wife's name is at all clear, given the handwriting and the foreignness of their names. It has been suggested the man's first name is Mendel. This could just possibly be the case if spelt as Mendle, but this is far from certain and without corroboration is a guess or jumping to conclusions. Comparison with the letters formed by the same writer suggests the second last letter is not an 'l' whiche usually writes straight or with a loop on the right. It is curved and like the 'r' elsewhere on the page eg 'Croal'. The initial letter whether 'H' or'M' is not at all clear.

Mendel married Toube PERAU. (Toube PERAU was born about 1815 and died before 7 April 1857 ².)
