"Thomas Fairbairn, born about 1692, a native of the Scottish Border, son of James F.; educated at Univ. of Edinburgh; sent North by the General Assembly June 1716; ord. to Rothes 24th April 1717; called 24th Aug., trans, and adm. 7th Oct. 1719; died 10th July 1756. He marr. 2nd Feb. 1721, Barbara, daugh. of James Gordon of Auchlyne, and had issue Rachel; Thomas, apprenticed to a W.S. in 1739; James, M.D.; Edward [all above the age of 16 in 1736]; Alexander, born 6th Feb. 1736. [Moray Tests.]"
