Marriage Notes: "Michael, the eldest son of Sir Thomas Wemyss of Reres, predeceased his father, leaving no male issue, and only one daughter, Elizabeth Wemyss. She was, about 1466, disinherited by her grandfather. Sir Thomas, who entailed his estate upon his second son, John, and other sons. But in 1477, Sir Thomas changed his mind, and settled all his estates upon his granddaughter, Elizabeth, who, about that year, married Arthur Forbes, in whose favour Sir Thomas resigned Reres, which was held by the descendants of Arthur Forbes and Elizabeth Wemyss for several generations." |
