Mary married Sir James KER of Crailing, then of Hundalie, son of Sir Thomas KER of Ferniehirst and Janet SCOTT. (Sir James KER of Crailing, then of Hundalie was born about 1572 and died in 1645 ¹.)

"On the 18 January 1627 Sir James had a Crown charter of the lands and barony of Grubet, the lands of Kirkyettem, etc., which Nicholas Rutherford of Hundalie, with the consent of Martha Stewart, his wife, and Andrew Rutherford their son and heir, resigned, to be held to the said Sir James, and to the heirs-male of him and Dame Mary Rutherford, his spouse, whom failing, to the heirs-male of the said James, whom failing, to Robert, Earl of Somerset, Lord Rochester, brother-german of the said James, etc., whom failing, to Andrew, Lord Jedburgh, brother-german of the said James, etc., whom failing, to Andrew Morton of Jedburgh, etc., whom failing, to the heirs-male of the said Sir James and his assignees whatsoever." "Sir James died in 1645, having married Mary, daughter and heiress of James Rutherford of Hundalie, in the parish of Jedburgh, which place had belonged to her ancestors from the middle of the fifteenth century. He had issue ..." (page 70)
