TORRIESOUL

"The old name of the place now known as Huntly", according to note 1 on page 339 of The Book of the Duffs volume 2. Huntly is in Aberdeenshire and closely associated with the family of Gordon. In the section on Abachie, the Balbithan manuscript refers to the James Duff, husband of Barbara Gordon as "of Tillysoul", meaning, presumably of Torriesoul, although strictly speaking Tillysoul is a different place, in Angus.
