Second baronet of Birkenbog, being the eldest son of Sir Alexander and his third wife, Elizabeth, daughter of Sir James Baird of Auchmedden. Sir James Abercromby, born about 1669, was MP for Banffshire from 1693 to 1702. He married Mary, daughter of Arthur Gordon of Straloch, and dying in September 1734 was succeeded by his third son Robert."
