Witness: at baptism of William Gordon, 23 September 1750, Inveravon parish, Banffshire, Scotland. 3 "William Grant in Blairfindie" was a witness at the baptism of William, son of William Gordon and Margaret Stuart in Achurrachan [sic], on 23 September 1750 in Inveravon parish Banffshire. The other witness was Elspet Turner in Downan.


William married Jean TYRIE.1 (Jean TYRIE was born about 1692.)

"Grant, William, merchant, seigneur, office holder, and politician; b. 15 June 1744 in Blairfindy, Scotland, son of William Grant and Jean Tyrie; d. 5 Oct. 1805 at Quebec, Lower Canada.

William Grant, the son of the laird of Blairfindy, a Jacobite in the Scottish uprising of 1745, was one of at least three brothers to enter the British overseas trade."
