Patrick married Mary GRANT, daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Patrick GRANT of Cluniemore and Cluniebeg, Tutor of Grant and Anna SUTHERLAND. (Mary GRANT was born about 1664.)
Marriage Notes:
"Patrick Grant (of Cluniemore) had issue three daughters, one of whom, named Mary, married Patrick Grant, or Macalpine, of Rothiemurchus. From this marriage is descended the present Sir John Peter Grant of Rothiemurchus." (page 238)
"IV. Patrick Grant, alias Macalpine.
He was born in the year 1665, and succeeded his father in 1677. He was a contemporary and friend of Rob Roy, from whom he received the right to call himself Macalpine. In 1713 he received a charter from Alexander Grant, younger of Grant, of the kirk lands of Rothiernurchus, comprehending the lands of Balnespick, croft of Ardinch and Dell. He died before 1744, being about eighty years of age. He was twice married, first, to Mary Grant, daughter of Patrick, Tutor of Grant ; and secondly, at the age of seventy, to Rachel Grant John Grant. of Tullochgorm, who survived him. By his wives he had eight sons and one daughter." (page 509)
