General Notes: "Nicholas of Kinnoull, who is distinctly called by Bower, 'uterine brother' of Sir Thomas, when recounting the part the brothers took in repelling an attack made by English soldiers upon the monastery of Inchcolm in the Firth of Forth, in 1385. He received the barony of Kinnoull by his father's resignation on 14 January 1366-67, confirmed on 18 of same month by King David II He was present at the coronation of King Robert n. in 1371." Nicholas married Jean CAMERON co-heiress, daughter of Sir John CAMERON of Ballegarno and Unknown.1 (Jean CAMERON co-heiress was born about 1348 and died before March 1382(1383) 1.) Marriage Notes: "He (Nicholas Erskine) married, first, Jean, daughter and co-heiress of Sir John Cameron of Balegarno, who died before March 1382-83." Nicholas next married Elizabeth KEITH 'lady of Aboyne', daughter of Sir William DE KEITH Great Marischal of Scotland and Margaret FRASER heiress of Touchfraser, after 14 September 1402.1 2 (Elizabeth KEITH 'lady of Aboyne' was born about 1358 and died by 1437 2.) Marriage Notes: "Elizabeth Gordon survived her first husband; married, secondly, Sir Nicholas Erskine of Kinnoull, who left her again a widow before December 1406 ..." |
