James married Jane FRASER heiress of Techmuiry, daughter of Alexander FRASER 4th of Techmuiry and Janet FRASER, in 1686.1 (Jane FRASER heiress of Techmuiry was born about 1665.)

  Marriage Notes:

"The Frasers of Techmuiry continued to flourish until towards the end of the seventeenth century, and their lands then appear to have passed from Alexander Fraser, the last proprietor of that name, into the hands of a family of the name of Gordon, by the marriage of Jane, only daughter and heiress of Alexander Fraser of Techmuiry, to James Gordon, in 1686."

from Frasers of Philorth

"...and the eldest, James (Gordon), who succeeded his father in the lands of Zeochrie, Banffshire, acquired in 1686 by marriage the estate of Techmuiry, Buchan."

from Dictionary of National Biography

"2. William (Fraser) of Techmuiry. This estate remained in the hands of the Frasers until 1686, when it passed into the hands of the Gordons by the marriage of Jane, only daughter and heiress of Alexander Fraser of Techmuiry to one James Gordon."

from Scots Peerage (vol 7) 1 3 4

James next married Elisabeth DAVIDSON, daughter of Alexander DAVIDSON of Newton of Cusalmond, then of Gight, jure uxoris, Jacobite 1715 and Marie GORDON (MRS DAVIDSON) 10th of Gight.2 (Elisabeth DAVIDSON was baptised on 15 April 1703 in Saint Nicholas parish, Aberdeen, Scotland 5 and died on 1 October 1788 in Faichfield, Longside parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 2.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Elizabeth Davidson, married James Gordon of Techmuiry, and died at Faichfield on October 1, 1788, in the eighty-fifth year of her age (Scots Magazine (1., 518), which calls her 'sister of Alexander Gordon of Gight'). I may note that Dr. Temple (Thanage of Fermartyn, p. 76) says she 'married, in 1767, Alexander Innes of Breda and Cowie'. This is a mistake. The Elizabeth Davidson whom Innes married was the daughter of William Davidson, Provost of Aberdeen from 1760 to 1762. The Provost died in 1765 (A. M. Munro's Memorials, p. 240)."
