GORDON, Alexander 'Attorney-At-Law' 1
User ID: D56. General Notes: "As to the son of the antiquary, I find an Alexander Gordon, attorney-at-law, admitted a member of the Union Kilwinning Lodge, No. 4, of the Charleston Freemasons, in 1756, who may, with little doubt, be assumed to be the same. His brother-in-law - in 1762, i.e. the year before his marriage to Frances Charlotte Gordon - is admitted to the same Lodge of Freemasons, and in 1791 he is found entertaining the Union Kilwinning Lodge at his own house, in the capacity of Eight Worshipful Master. Those are the only traces that I have been able to recover of the descendants of Alexander Gordon, the Roman antiquary." |
