She had first married Michael Abernethy, son of Lord Saltoun, by whom she had a daughter, who married her third husband's younger brother, John Gordon of Leichestoun."

"John Gordon seems to have been married three times. The first wife was a daughter of Michael Abernethy, brother of Baron Saltoun by his wife Mary Gordon of Cairnborrow (Balbithan MS., pp. 33, 49). The 1600 MS. makes her Elizabeth, and mother of five sons that came to perfection (James, John, Patrick, George and William)."
