GORDON, James of Broadland, then of Buthlaw 1Other names for James were GORDON, James of Buthlie,1 GORDON, James of Buthlay, Master 1 and GORDON, James of Greinmyre, Mr.1 User ID: D847. James married Anne GORDON, daughter of Patrick GORDON 2nd of Nethermuir and Katherine LUMSDEN.1 (Anne GORDON was born about 1618.) Marriage Notes: "Anne Gordon, 'lauchfull bairn to umquhill Patrick Gordon of Nethermuir,' was the creditor in 1633 of Mr William Keith of Brownttown to the extent of 1000 merks, Mr William Lumsden, advocate, in Old Aberdeen, being her tutor ('Book of Annual-rentaris,' Spalding Club Misc. iii.,102). She and her sister Janet were creditors of Sir Thomas Urquhart of Cromarty, 'equallie betwixt them,' to the extent of 500 merks (Ibid, iii., 102). |
