  General Notes:

"Name: Patrick Leslie Suffix: 15th Baron of Balquhain Prefix: Count Sex: M Death: 1710 Occupation: Fieldmarshall & Ambassador in the Imperial Service Note:1 2

2nd lawful son.
---
Succeeded his father as Baron of Balquhain, then on death of his elder brother, as Count.
He made an entail by which the German estates should descend to the eldest son, and the Scottish estates to the second son, and in the failure of male issue, the estates should descend to the male issue of his daus.
Redeemed Fetternear 20th August 1690 from Abercrombie of Fetternear (who married the Baroness of Semple in 1685 and was created Lord Glassford), and finding the ancient castle of Balquhain incommodius - it having been erected more for a place of strength than a place of residence - he removed to Fetternear, beautifully situated on the banks of the river Don. This Fetternear became the family residence, and the old castle of Balquhain fell into decay.
---
Patrick's son by Elizabeth Douglas, James Ernest, succeeded his uncle as 3rd Count Leslie in Germany? [No, it seems that Patrick succeeded as Count from his brother, and then James succeeded from him, so would be 4th Count...]
James Ernest married Louise Berne de Leichenstein (b 1670) and died 1737."

from Family of Leslie

Note:
Gavin Douglas died early in the 17th century, which suggests Elizabeth was his granddaughter, not his daughter.
