"Robert de Brus, surnamed ' the noble,' was one of the 'magnates Scotie ' who witnessed the marriage of King Alexander II. with Johanna, sister of Henry III., at York. He married Isabel, second daughter of David, Earl of Huntingdon, younger brother of King Malcolm IV. and King William ; it was through this marriage that the succession to the Crown of Scotland came into the family of Bruce."
