"Alexander Innes succeeded his father, but apparently did not hold the estates long, for having killed his kinsman Innes of Pethnik in quarrel in the streets of Edinburgh, he was executed in 1576."

Alexander married Barbara SINCLAIR, daughter of George SINCLAIR 4th Earl of Caithness and Elizabeth GRAHAM, after 10 September 1574.^{1 2} (Barbara SINCLAIR was born about 1560 and died before 25 November 1575 ².)
