DE LA HAY, William of Locherworth, Sir
(About 1235-After 1308) |
DE LA HAY, William of Locherworth, Sir 1
User ID: C636. General Notes: "Sir William de Haya, of Locherworth. He first occurs in 1263, when as ' Willielmus de Haya, Dominus de Locherworth,' he is named in a convention with the Abbot and monks of Inchcolm. 'Dominus Willielmus de Haya, filius Johannis de Haya, Militis, Domini de Locherworth,' confirmed to the monks of Newbottle, the peatary of Locherworth, 'quam Robertus [de Lyne] filius David quondam Domini de Locherworth, et ipsius pater, illis dedit.' This confirmation is undated, but, from the names of the witnesses, appears to have been granted between 1272 and 1295. Willielmus de Haya of Locherworth also witnesses a charter of Donald, Earl of Mar, to Sir Nicol Hay of Erroll about 1290." William married. |
