LUDQUHARN

The spelling varies: Ludquhairn and Ludquhorn are also found. The Burn of Ludquharn and associated places containing the name are to be found in north-east Scotland, in the inland area south-east of Peterhead and south of Longside. 5

Gilbert married OGSTON heiress of Ludquharn before 1455.1 2 3 (OGSTON heiress of Ludquharn was born about 1430.)

  Marriage Notes:

In the Genealogical Table of the Supplement to the Genealogical History of the Families of Ogston, a daughter of "Ogstoun of Ludquharn" is shown to have married "Sir Gilbert Keith", but no progeny from the marriage is shown.

"Marriage
It is stated in several places, [e.g. Ogston Supplement p104, Buchan p36] that Sir Gilbert Keith married an unnamed Ogstoun, from whom he inherited the lands of Ludquharn. I have found no primary sources for the marriage, and the inheritance of the lands of Ludquharn are discussed in Appendix A.2 below. "

Gilbert next married Janet GRAHAM, daughter of Patrick GRAHAM Lord Graham and Christian ERSKINE, in 1455.1 (Janet GRAHAM was born about 1437.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Marriage

I have found no primary sources for the marriage, and the inheritance of the lands of Ludquharn are discussed in Appendix A.2 below. However, he does seem to have been relatively old when he married Janet Graham, so it is certainly feasible.
• Sir Gilbert Keith of Inverugie married Janet Graham, daughter of Patrick Lord Graham, in 1455 [17, 37]. "

from Keiths of Inverugie by Mike Wade 1

Gilbert next married Margaret HAY, daughter of William HAY Earl of Erroll, Constable of Scotland and Beatrice DOUGLAS, after 1491.1 4 (Margaret HAY was born about 1450.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Sir Gilbert supposedly married Margaret Hay, daughter of William Hay, 1st Earl of Erroll (see e.g. TSP V3 p565). If he did, then it must have been after 1491, since Janet Graham was still alive (and married to Sir Gilbert) then [37]. "

"37 Antiquities of Aberdeen & Banff, Vol 4, p71 Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, Vol 02 (1424-1513), #2030 07 May 1491 Charter of the lands of Tortastoun etc. Sir Gilbert Keith of Inuerugy. Janet Grahame (wife of Sir Gilbert Keith). "
