"John Farquharson of Crathie is the son of Robert Farquharson and Elspet Anderson. He married, firstly, unknown daughter Farquharson, daughter of Robert Farquharson of Bellamore. He married, secondly, Elspet Forbes, daughter of Alexander Forbes of Culquharrie, in 1680.

On 10 December 1673 he had a charter of Allargue, Congarff, Aberdeenshire, from 5th Earl of Mar."
