Malcolm married Isabella DOUGLAS Countess of Mar, and Garioch, suo jure, daughter of William DOUGLAS Earl of Douglas, 'Earl of Mar', jure uxoris and Margaret Countess of Mar, before July 1388.^{1 2} (Isabella DOUGLAS Countess of Mar, and Garioch, suo jure was born about 1365 and died by October 1408 ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

"She (Isabella Douglas) was married, first, before July 1388, to Sir Malcolm Drummond of Strathurd, brother of Annabella, Queen of King Robert III. He never held the title of Earl of Mar, but is always designed Lord of Mar. He was made prisoner in the year 1402 by a stratagem, and so severely treated in captivity that he died before November of that year."

"Sir Malcolm (Drummond) married, some time before July 1388, Isabella, daughter of William, Earl of Douglas and Mar, and sister of the hero of Otterburn. Through her he became Lord of Mar. He is never styled Earl in authentic record. She survived him and married, secondly, Alexander Stewart."
