Note: Alexander's father was William, 2nd Earl Marischal. The 3rd Earl Marischal, William Keith, was his nephew.




"Alexander, who got from his father the lands of Pittendrum, which his brother Gilbert had resigned. He married Marion Lundie, sister of Robert Lundie of Benholm. She survived him, and was married, secondly (contract 22 September 1515), to Robert Arbuthnott, second son of Robert Arbuthnott of that Ilk. She left a son :
John of Pittendrum...."

Marion next married Mr Robert ARBUTHNOTT of Banff, son of Robert ARBUTHNOTT 12th of that Ilk and Mariota SCRIMGEOUR, 22 September 1515(contract).^{1 2 3} (Mr Robert ARBUTHNOTT of Banff was born about 1479.)

"Alexander Keith died before 1515 as she (Marion Lundie) married secondly Robert Arbuthnott of Banff, second son of Robert Arbuthnott by Marjorie Scrymgeour, on 22nd September 1515 (Scots Peerage, VI, 44)."

"Robert, married (contract dated 22 September 1515) Marion Lundie, sister of Robert Lundie of Benholm, and relict of Alexander Keith, son of William, third Earl Marischal. He is generally designed as Mr. Robert Arbuthnott, and under that designation appears in the destination of Crown charters of Arbuthnott in 1542 and 1545. He was one of the curators of his nephew, Robert Arbuthnott of that Ilk. By 1526 he seems to have acquired, probably on a wadset title, the lands of Banff, which then, as now, formed part of the main Arbuthnott estate, for in a letter of reversion, dated 18 August 1526, granted by Robert Arbuthnott of that Ilk, with consent of his curators, in favour of David Rait of Drumnagair, he is described as Robert Arbuthnott of Banff."
