"George Skene, born about 1674, son of Alexander S. in Cocairdie, and Jean, daugh. of Patrick Leslie of Kincraigie; educated at King's College, Aberdeen, 1686-90, and Univ. of Glasgow; licen. by Presb. of Glasgow 16th July 1696; ord. 22nd April 1697; died April 1724. He marr. (1) Mary, daugh. of Francis Gordon of Craig, who died 1st Aug. 1712, aged 32, and had issue Francis, LL.D., Professor of Civil and Natural History, Marischal College, Aberdeen; died 1775: (2) Margaret, daugh. of Robert Skene, rector of the Grammar School of Aberdeen, she survived him, and had issue Agnes (marr. John Burnett, min. of Cluny); Mary; Katherine; Helen; John, student at Marischal College, 1729-33, librarian of that College, 1736-50.
