BLAIR, Elizabeth 1
User ID: F154. Elizabeth married James ARBUTHNOTT of Dulladies, Tutor of Arbuthnott, son of James ARBUTHNOTT of Arrat and Margaret LIVINGSTON, before 16 July 1626.1 (James ARBUTHNOTT of Dulladies, Tutor of Arbuthnott was born about 1593 and died after 8 September 1563 1.) Marriage Notes: "James (Arbuthnott), who appears to have received the sum of 20,000 merks as his patrimony, is described in May 1620, as of Cairnibeg, and thereafter as of Dulladies, in which estate he was infeft along with his wife Elizabeth Blair, 16 July 1626. On the death of his brother in 1633, he became tutor to the young laird, and is frequently designed as tutor of Arbuthnott. He acquired the lands of Arbeikie near Arbroath, and was infeft therein on 3 March 1644. He was alive on 8 September 1653, shortly after which date Arbeikie appears to have been sold to James Mudie. He married Elizabeth Blair, daughter of Alexander Blair of Balthayock, and by her had issue." |
