"John Leslie, seventh Laird of Warthill, sold the lands of Barnes, not out of necessity, but because they were not contiguous to his other estates, and were run-rigged with the lands of the proprietor of Overhall. He married first, Mary, daughter of George Gordon of Rothney ; she lived only to have one child, who did not long survive her.
