"1806 Forbes Sept 9 James Forbes in Tambreak and Jean Dawson his spouse had a son baptised called William before witnesses"
The 1841 census for Glenbucket parish recorded William, aged in 30-34 years group, and Penelope Forbes, in the 25-29 years group, and three of their children (though not named as such), James, aged 8 years, William, aged 6 years, and Jean, aged 2 years, living at Tambreak. A female servant, aged 12 years, called Christian Anderson, also lived there. All were born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland except Penelope, who was Irish born. William was a farmer by occupation.
Beside them, in an adjoining household at Tambreak lived Arthur Forbes, aged in 70-74 years age group, and Rachel Forbes, in same age group, and William and Penelope's daughter, Elizabeth, aged 4 years. Arthur was of independent means. They were all Aberdeenshire born. Another man lived in this household whose name and occupation are somewhat unclear. He was in the 55-59 years age group and born in Ireland. His name was William Te*t, probably Tennent, and was an Army P(rivate?). 2
