Hugh married Janet FENTON 3 March 1415 (1416) (marriage contract/indenture).1 (Janet FENTON was born about 1388 and died before 1429 1.)

Hugh next married Isabella WEMYSS, daughter of Sir John WEMYSS of Leuchars, Kincaldrum and Rires, then of Wemyss and Isabel ERSKINE, by 1429.1 2 (Isabella WEMYSS was born about 1390.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Janet Fentoun died before 1429, by which date Hugh had married Isabella, daughter of Sir John Wemyss of that Ilk. On the 10th December he grants an acquittance to his 'derreste and beste beluffit bruthir in lauch, Davy of the Wemys, Lord of that like,' of 35 merks by way of marriage."

I. Elizabeth, who married (contract dated 31st August 1418) Andrew Gray, younger of Foulls, afterwards first Lord Gray, and had issue.

II. Isabella, who married, as his second wife, Hugh Fraser of Lovat. Lovat granted to David Wemyss in 1429, as his brother-in-law, a receipt for thirty-five merks of tocher."
