BROWN, Charles
General Notes: The 1841 census for St Cuthbert's parish in Edinburgh recorded a household where two of the Winton family lived with their spouses, one child, and a servant. Charles Brown was the head of the household and lived at 'Water of Leith Dean Path' in Dean village, with his wife, formerly Ann Winton, their daughter Janet, and Ann's brother, William, and his wife Helen. Their female servant was 16 year old Helen Anderson, born outside of Midlothian. Charles was an engineer (journeyman), and had been born in Midlothian. He was in the 30-34 years age group. Charles married Ann WINTON, daughter of Alexander WINTON (DNA Linked) and Janet GUILD (DNA Linked), on 13 November 1837 in Saint Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland. (Ann WINTON was born on 7 August 1811 and was baptised on 21 September 1811 in Saint Cuthbert's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland.) |
