The said day Grissell Abircrombie, spous to Patrik Sangster, couper, being convict be the depositiones of certaine famous witnesses for puting wiolent hand on Janet Ray, relict of wmquhill Mr Wm. Moir, and for taking of hir plaid from hir, and for cursing her and all that belongit to hir, and for saying the curse of God be vpon the roundheids, for the quilkis the counsell adjudges the said Grissell to be put in the joggis, and to remain thairin fra nyn houris till tuelff houris befoir noone, or then to redeem hirselff be payment of tuentie merkis money, to be payit to the deane of gild for the vse of the toune, and to compeir before the bailyies, and to crave the pairties offendit pardone.
This act is ordanit to be annullit and maid woid, in respect the said Grissell is ordanit be the kirk session to sit on the publict place of repentance the nixt Lordis day, for the fact aboue writtin, crave God and the congregation pardone thairfoir; and alse in respect that in presens of the said bailyies sche cravit the pairties offended pardon."

Janet married Mr William MOIR of Scottistoun, Burgess and Treasurer of Aberdeen.1 2 (Mr William MOIR of Scottistoun, Burgess and Treasurer of Aberdeen was born about 1570 and died before 2 May 1623 4.)

"Att Aberdein, 24th July, 1695, years in presens of John Allardes, ane of the baillies of the burgh -
The said day, it was judicially verified and proven, be the depositions of Alexr. Skein, of Dyce; Gilbert Black, lait baillie; John Moir, lait baillie; Mr. James Moir of Perriehill, that Gilbert Moir, son of deceast Dr. William Moir, of Scotstoun, now in the Kingdom of Poland, who went from this about 18 years ago or thereby, being then about the age of ( - )years, or thereby, is the second lawful son of the said deceased, Dr. William Moir of Scotstoun, procreat betwixt him and Margaret Skein, his spouse, in the lawful bonds of matrimony; and that the said deceased Dr. William Moir of Scotstoun, principal and professor of mathematics in the Marischall College of Aberdeen, procreat betwixt him and Jean Gordon, his lawful spouse, daughter of the deceased Gilbert Gordon of Gordonsmill, of the family of Clunie; and that the deceased William Moir of Scotstoun, procreat betwixt him and Janet Rae, his lawful spouse.
All which they deponed to be of veritie, by virtue of their great oath sworn; Whereupon the said baillie ordained ane testimonial to be extended, in ample and due form."

Note: There is an error in this birth brieve. William Moir, principal of Marischal College, married 1) Agnes Gordon and 2) Jean Forbes. Agnes Gordon was the mother of Gilbert's father.
