"JAMES GORDON, of Chapelton, born about 1650, son of Robert G. of Chapelton, Drumblade; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1670); pres. by George, Marquess of Huntly; ord. (at Forres) 16th Sept. 1680; dep. 30th May 1716 for complicity in the Jacobite Rising. He marr. Christian Halket, and had issue Margaret (marr. George Leslie, of Rothie-Norman); Elizabeth (marr. Walter Syme, min. of Tullynessle, and was greatgrandmother of Henry, Lord Brougham and Vaux). [Case of Greenshields.]"
