Robert Scott was in receipt of a 'Braco Burse', a scholarship established and administered by the Duff family. This supported Scott in his education at King's College. Rothiemay, where he was born, was the seat of this wealthy, landed family. 1

THE GLENBUCHAT BALLADS

Scott is considered to be the compiler of a collection of old Scottish ballads published in 2007 as The Glenbuchat Ballads edited by David Buchan and James Madeira. The Introduction provides background to Glenbuchat, or Glenbucket as it was, and Scott's life.


Robert married Mary Margaret FORSYTH, daughter of Reverend Mr James FORSYTH Minister of Belhelvie and Isabell SIM, on 15 April 1812.1 (Mary Margaret FORSYTH was born on 28 March 1776, baptised on 6 April 1776 in Belhelvie parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1 2 and died in 1830.)
