"This Sir William Baillie of Lamington married in 1615 Grizel Hamilton, daughter of Sir Claud Hamilton of Elliston, brother to James Earl of Abercorn. By this marriage Sir William had three sons

William, who died without issue in the lifetime of his father in 1652 ;

Samuel, of whom presently ;

Robert, of whom nothing is known ;

and three daughters

Janet, married Gavin Hamilton of Raploch, and had issue.

Grizel, married Robert Kirkpatrick of Closeburn, and had issue.

Jane, married Claud Baillie of Bagbie and had issue, which will be referred to in its proper place."
