Note:
The website quoted above, citing Lieut. Colonel Archibald Ythan Cheyne, The Cheyne Family in Scotland, page 61, identifies Mary, (called Margaret elsewhere), Forbes as the daughter of Alexander Forbes 5th of Pitsligo and Beatrix Fraser [sic]. That Beatrix Fraser is then identified as the daughter of Sir William Fraser 6th of Philorth and Elizabeth Keith.
This is incorrect, as, by all accounts, Alexander Forbes 5th of Pitsligo married Beatrix Abernethy, daughter of William, 4th Lord of Saltoun. 1
